Mass, motion, forces, energy, design, und manufacturing-these comprise the world of Mechanical Engineering. Inarguably, the most diverse of the engineering fields, Mechanical Engineering influences almost all facets of our life and involves several specializations. It lies at the crossroads of all the engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineering is a creative discipline that draws upon a number of basic and applied sciences to design, build, and optimize the devices, machines, processes, and systems that involve mechanical forces, work, and energy. Mechanical Engineering deals with a wide variety of scientific and technological challenges, which include design and manufacturing, energy conversion and power generation, control and automation, computer simulation, environment protection, building services, aerospace and many more. Mechanical engineers are employed in an enormous range of technical areas including: acoustics, air-conditioning, automatic controls, computer-aided design. energy management, fluid dynamics, tribology, robotics, biomechanics, and turbo-machinery, just to name a few. Mechanical engineering is a challenging, rewarding, and highly respected profession.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is recognized by industry and general community for its wo r k-relevant education programs, research facilities, creative real-world project wit h and robust relations with industry leaders. The department is renowned for its research capabilities and achievements support ted by ex tensive research facilities. Equipped with some of the most modern and innovative facilities in Bangladesh, students a re both encouraged and supported to cultivate their most creative ideas with equipment and amenities that include: mechatronics & control engineering lab, fluid mechanics & machinery Labs, combustion lab for both gas turbine & IC engine, different tribological study facilities like PVD, pin-one-disk machine, heat transfer lab and machine tools lab equipped with two CNC machines.
