This Bachelor of Medical Science degree has been designed for high-achieving secondary school leavers and provides the opportunity to progress directly into Griffith’s Doctor of Medicine (5099), with a condition of holding at least 5.0 and a minimum grade of Pass in the designated course Human Skills for Medicine. The first year will cover the basic sciences underpinning medical science - anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, genes and disease, law and ethics, microbiology, physiology, and epidemiology. Students will also undertake a course in "Human Skills in Medicine" which provides them with knowledge and skills in communication and interaction with patients. The second year will cover medically focused courses in immunology, infectious disease, pharmacology, metabolism, structural biochemistry, and molecular genetics, as well as undertaking a capstone course (Integrated Medical Sciences) which integrates and applies the knowledge of basic sciences learned in your first and second years.
