The Master of Science in High-Performance Building Engineering (MS HPBE) at KFUPM is designed to prepare professionals who can lead the transformation of the built environment towards sustainability, energy efficiency, and human comfort.

This innovative program integrates building science, sustainable design, energy systems, and digital technologies to develop engineers capable of addressing pressing challenges in the construction industry and supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Applicants to the MS HPBE program must meet KFUPM graduate admission standards, which generally include:
  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Academic Standing: A strong undergraduate record, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent). Applicants with GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 may be considered for probationary admission.
  • English Proficiency: International applicants must provide satisfactory TOEFL or IELTS scores, as required by KFUPM.
  • Graduate Admission Test: GRE may be required for applicants without ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees.
  • Supporting Documents: Updated CV, official transcripts, statement of purpose, and recommendation letters.
  • Evaluation: The department’s Graduate Admission Committee reviews applications and shortlists candidates for final approval by the Deanship of Graduate Studies.
