This double degree offers knowledge and practical skills from both nursing and midwifery study areas. In first year, students will gain solid grounding in healthcare fundamentals through subjects such as human biosciences and public health. In second, third and fourth years, students will be specializing in subjects such as Indigenous and intercultural health, postnatal care of the new family, care of new-borns with complex health issues, mental health and illness. Students will also practice both nursing and midwifery in emergency and time-critical settings. Throughout the study period, students will complete placements for both nursing and midwifery in a range of metropolitan, rural and interstate settings, and have the chance to study overseas. Students are be eligible for nursing and midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) after completing this course. This course is only offered to domestic students.
