This practically orientated course provides training in family therapy with a focus on supervision of family work and integrating family therapy theory. It's ideal for psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, youth workers, drug and alcohol counsellors, psychiatric nurses or workers from other professions who want to focus specifically on family therapy counselling.

It offers a solid grounding in systems theory and substantial experiential learning, including supervised clinical practice and working with a team of peers in a family therapy context.

Family therapy focuses on the important role of the family and the power of relationships to foster social, emotional and mental wellbeing.

This course is delivered in partnership with The Bouverie Centre in Brunswick.

*Please be aware that this course includes mandatory in-person placement requirements. Students are expected to complete these placements in Australia.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9 - Masters Degree.

Prerequisites
180 credit point pathway: Australian bachelors degree or equivalent in a counselling, health, community or welfare field.

Graduate Certificate in Family Therapy or equivalent
