Frequently Asked Questions
Most students find a suitable position soon after completion of their master's programme. Often as a result of an internship or legal side job, they work in core functions of legal organizations, ministries, offices and companies. In the Netherlands but increasingly internationally.
In the Master's programme you have to deal with different forms of education:
- Lectures and working groups
- Unique forms of education privatissimum and practicum. Education is intensive because of the unique privatissimum and practicum forms of education. During these intensive courses you will train the skills you need as a lawyer in practice.
- Thesis. For your thesis, you will conduct your own research and express this in a scientific discourse.
The Master's in Law offers good career prospects. The programme is highly regarded by employers as a result of the thorough training and the extensive attention that is given to the development of practical writing, speaking and research skills.
As a graduate, you can take up positions at a.o:
- (inter)national law firms and the judiciary;
- multinationals, banks and insurance companies, and small and medium-sized businesses, for example as corporate lawyers, executive secretaries or policy officers;
- interest groups such as consumer organisations, employers' organisations and employees' organisations;
- non-profit organisations;
- the government;
- journalism;
- higher or scientific education.
