Are you passionate about our planet? Are you keen to find solutions to environmental problems that make a real impact? Do you feel that either natural sciences or social sciences by themselves are not enough to tackle today’s complex sustainability issues? Then Science for Sustainable Societies at Leiden University may be the perfect choice for you! We face climate change, loss of biodiversity, depletion of natural resources, pollution, and many more challenges. Each of these issues has so many aspects that a one-solution-fits-all approach just will not work. The new generation of sustainability changemakers needs to be qualified in a variety of disciplines. This unique BSc programme prepares you to become one of those changemakers.

In these challenging times bright minds are needed that are able to come up with out-of-the-box ideas. This is one of the reasons why we developed Science for Sustainable Societies. This bachelor’s programme is designed to help you take on today’s challenges in order to create a better tomorrow – at a local, national, or international level. You will acquire in-depth knowledge about the various aspects of sustainability and environmental issues. At the same time, you will obtain practical skills such as working in teams, communication, programming and project management. This means that, while developing your expertise in the field of sustainability, you will also gain an excellent starting position on the job market.
