In Arts, Media and Society, a specialisation of the Art History bachelor's programme, you will explore this relationship and analyse how it reflects and impacts the issues of our time, while also learning practical and academic skills that are invaluable in the current job market.

After graduating from the Arts, Media and Society bachelor’s programme you will have a multidisciplinary understanding of the influence and impact that the arts and media have on society. You will also have acquired the academic and professional skills that will be indispensable to your future career or study. The programme will prepare to kick start your career in areas like curating, consulting, (digital) publishing or arts journalism, or to further your academic education with a suitable master’s degree.
Graduates of the programme who want to further their academic education can continue with a master’s programme. Having successfully completed a master’s will significantly increase your chances of finding a position at academic level.
You will have a full working week of 40 hours. Of this, an average of 15 hours will be spent in the classroom, attending lectures or tutorials, for example. The rest of these hours will be spent on independent study. The lectures will be focused on a particular topic, and complemented by tutorials in which the material will be discussed in greater depth and with more student input, such as individual or group presentations.
Graduates of the Arts, Media and Society bachelor’s programme go on to work in a wide variety of positions in several sectors. A 2020 survey carried out by our Humanities Faculty revealed the percentages of Art History alumni that found jobs in the following sectors:
