LMU's Master of Arts in Counseling program prepares candidates to succeed as a counselor in diverse educational, community, private, and nonprofit settings. This program is designed for those who intend to pursue Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) certification. Graduates of the MA in Counseling Program are eligible to apply to the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for Professional Clinical Counselor Intern (PCCI) status. There are two specializations for LPCC eligibility: School Counseling or Community Mental Health Counseling. Aligned with the School of Education's Conceptual Framework, Mission Statement, and Goals, and the Department of Specialized Programs in Professional Psychology candidate goals, LMU's Master of Arts in School Counseling aims to prepare candidates that respond positively to issues of diversity, educate to help insure the success of all, advocate for all pupils to have access to counseling services, and to lead and work collaboratively to help transform programs, practices, and institutions.
