LMU's Finance major helps students understand that finance is the lifeline of business. Students learn concepts in financial planning, policy, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and investment in both U.S. and international markets. The major helps students prepare for careers in the private and public sectors while developing skills in the application of critical finance concepts, techniques, practices, and decision making essential to sound personal and corporate financial planning. LMU Finance graduates will: Apply the principles and techniques of time value of money to value an investment; Explain the impact of a firm’s capital structure on its risk and firm value; Construct rigorous financial models for decision making; Translate contracts, laws, annual reports, and other legal documents into financial models; Make sound investment decisions; and Calculate and interpret investment performance measurements.
