Forensic psychology is the application of psychological theory and research to understand crime and the criminal justice system. This course introduces you to the range of contexts that forensic psychologists work in, and builds the key skills required to successfully work as a practitioner psychologist. As well as covering the core British Psychological Society (BPS) psychology content, you will study a wide range of topics within forensic psychology, such as offender behaviour, eyewitness testimony, jury decision-making, police investigations and the treatment of offenders. Academic staff in the department are actively involved in research which informs and directs what you will be taught. This research is supported by a thriving external speaker programme and large numbers of postgraduate students. Features and benefits of the course include: This degree programme is accredited by the British Psychological Society, which means that providing you graduate from your Psychology course at MMU with a minimum of a 2:2 honours classification and you pass your dissertation research project, you will be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) from the BPS. Psychology is taught in the new Brooks building which provides state-of-the-art teaching facilities and social spaces for students. 97% of Psychology students go straight into employment or onto further study in the six month period after graduating. The Department of Psychology at Manchester Met is ranked as outstanding by the British Psychological Society. Staff are research active and contribute to the work and research activity of several research centres within the Faculty: Critical and Community Psychology, Applied Psychology and Wellbeing.

SPECIFIC GCSE REQUIREMENTS
- GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or grade 4.
- Equivalent qualifications such as Functional Skills Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy and Key Skills are not accepted for this course.
NON TARIFFED QUALIFICATIONS
Access to HE Diploma in a relevant subject with an overall Tariff point score of 120. Acceptable subjects are Psychology, Social Sciences, Biology/Human Sciences and Health Professions.
