Social Work involves working with individuals, families and communities to empower and bring about change within society. Whether you are interested in working with children and families or with adults. Our degree programme has been designed and develop to produce graduates who are professionally respected, skilled and highly employable. This course offers students the opportunity to gain a professional qualification in Social Work, entitling them to apply for professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. You will be supported and guided through both your studies and professional practice placements by experienced and industry respected professionals. Our academic staff are research active, using their own professional networks and knowledge to inform their teaching and deliver a relevant, modern and practical skills base on which to develop your career. This programme works with service users and the wider community to help design the curriculum and ensure that the units studied are appropriate in meeting the required skills and experience for professional practice. Applications which meet our academic entry requirements will be assessed by the following criteria on the Personal Statement:

The ability to demonstrate a coherent statement of relevant experience.
Awareness of discrimination as a factor that influences experiences.
The ability to demonstrate an understanding of what Social Workers do.

An interview is part of the application process.

Satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and health assessment will be required prior to enrolment.

Applicants who are successful at interview will be asked to provide a second reference. The second reference must be a work reference, from a referee who can comment on the applicant's suitability for the social work profession (for example, work in the voluntary or charitable sector).
