The programme aims to train highly qualified designers who will deal with the complexity of a product-service system (PSS), an integrated blend of products, communication strategies, services, and spaces to address complex challenges sustainably. Students will learn to develop creative solutions using methodologies ranging from ethnographic research to data-driven and participatory design, collaborating in multidisciplinary teams, and acquiring leadership and entrepreneurship skills. They will learn an ability to design product-service systems in a strategic way capable of governing and channeling change and innovation in an evolutionary way, in line with the changing context and the sustainability challenge; lastly, they will engage with a multidisciplinary approach that is, nowadays, a crucial perspective in the problem definition and resolution phases. PSSD students can apply for the double degree programme at Tongji University (Shanghai) or for the internal double degree with Management Engineering at Politecnico di Milano.

Career opportunities for the graduate in Product Service Systems Design are within the traditional design industry, as well as in service design, retail design, project manager, strategic design, brand design, art direction, trend analysis, UX/UI design, and user research.
