Founded in 1927, the architecture discipline of Southeast University adheres to the school motto of "Stop at Perfection". Its development continues to lead China's higher architectural education and has great international influence. At present, the architectural discipline is the first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point and the first-level discipline national key discipline. The discipline has 3 academicians, 2 Changjiang Scholars, 1 National Outstanding Youth, a national teaching team, two national excellent courses, as well as CAAD National Professional Laboratory, UNESCO's GIS Asia-Pacific Training Center, VR Workstation and Postdoctoral Mobile Station , is the key discipline construction project of "Project 211" of Southeast University, and is also the affiliated unit of the successive directors of the National Architectural Discipline Professional Steering Committee of Higher Education Institutions. On the basis of inheriting history, the discipline of architecture tracks the frontier, crosses and integrates, and develops and innovates. The professional structure is complete and forward-looking, with distinctive features, adhering to the traditional advantages of research and teaching, and making breakthroughs in the fields of green architecture and digital architecture; emphasizing the construction of unique design theories and methods of oriental architecture from an international perspective; emphasizing the inherent nature of local culture and architectural creation At the same time, it continues to develop cutting-edge fields such as green urban design and digital control and optimization of urban material and space forms.
Architectural history and theory and heritage protection are the first batch of master's and doctoral degree granting sites in my country. Since the 1950s, under the leadership of Professor Liu Dunzhen, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Architectural History and Theory Research Office was established. After the 1980s, under the leadership of Professors Pan Guxi, Guo Husheng and Liu Xianjue, the teaching and research of history and theory has achieved fruitful results and has a leading level in China and international influence. It is a national key discipline in the direction of architectural history and theory. After the 21st century, in order to change the relatively backward situation of personnel training in the field of cultural heritage protection in my country, relying on the key disciplines of architectural history and theory, through the interdisciplinary, a new direction of architectural heritage protection has been established. At present, the research fields of this discipline are stable in four directions: Chinese architectural history and its theory, Oriental architectural history and its theory, Western architectural history and its theory, and architectural heritage protection, with a rigorous and well-trained academic team. So far, the discipline has undertaken a number of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Doctoral Program Fund of the Ministry of Education, Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province, projects entrusted by various ministries and commissions, Sino-foreign cooperation projects, and horizontal entrusted research projects of relevant units. He has published dozens of monographs and hundreds of papers. He has successively won the National Science Conference Award, the second prize of the State Education Commission's Science and Technology Progress Award, the first and second prizes of the Ministry of Construction's scientific and technological achievements, and the Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. . In recent years, the construction of this discipline has embodied the characteristics of the discussion of cutting-edge, pioneering and rooted topics, as well as focusing on the practicality and coherence of research results.
Architectural technology and science is a secondary discipline of architecture, covering professional directions such as building structure, building physics, building equipment, building structure, building fire protection and safety, and building heritage protection technology. The founders of Architecture of Southeast University, Yang Tingbao, Liu Dunzhen, Tong Liao, etc., all attach great importance to the technical problems in construction projects, and actively explore the correlation between construction technology and design. The architectural technology discipline of Southeast University has made great progress since the older generation scholars such as Liu Dunzhen and Zhang Yongsen studied the architectural technology in my country's ancient buildings and modern buildings in the 1930s, and the connotation and extension of the architectural technology discipline are constantly expanding. In order to meet the needs of the times and the development of architectural disciplines, the research directions of the architectural technology discipline of Southeast University mainly include ecological city and green building performance, sustainable development of human settlements, modern construction, industrial design, and existing building protection and renewal. In recent years, the architectural technology discipline has compiled and published several national key textbooks on architectural technology, and has undertaken a number of national science and technology support programs, National Natural Science Foundation projects, and research projects at the ministry and provincial levels. The research results have won many awards.
