The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences received approval from the University Council to open graduate programs under the 8th National Education Development Plan (1997-2002). The Faculty initiated the Biomedical Sciences graduate program recognizing the significant national shortage of personnel in this field, including lecturers in basic and applied medical sciences, and researchers in health sciences crucial for future national development. To streamline operations, an internal division was added in 2004: the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program. Later, in 2014, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences merged the graduate programs of various disciplines under the administration of the Graduate Studies Unit.
