Thammasat University’s Ph.D. in English Language Teaching is a 3.5-year weekend program consisting of coursework and a doctoral thesis. This program is ideal for English teachers at all levels, education supervisors, curriculum developers, and administrators wanting to learn more about English language teaching, research and the application of theoretical knowledge in professions related to ELT.    The program focus includes ELT methodologies, assessment, second language acquisition, curriculum development and evaluation, instructional media and materials development, ESP, linguistics analysis, discourse analysis, corpus analysis, world Englishes, and professional development. 
The courses are taught by Thammasat professors and the students’ learning is enriched by guest lectures given by internationally-renowned ELT scholars. The program also provides grants for attending conferences, short-term study visits and training sessions in Thailand and abroad.

Applicants must have completed a master’s degree or the equivalent from a recognized domestic or international institution. Required Documents include: certificate of health from a government hospital, copy of citizen ID card/passport, and letters of recommendation (one letter should be completed by a university faculty member, if applicable).

Thammasat offers graduate degree programs in all fields, covering sociology, humanities, science and technology, and health sciences, in Thai, bilingual and international programs.

There are two types of lecture sessions: normal programs in office hours and special programs in the evenings or on weekends.

Students on master’s degree programs can pursue their own interests in research-oriented programs. Students are required to complete a “thesis” to contribute to a new body of knowledge or conduct a specialized study in their industries or careers.

The doctorate degree programs encourage students to conduct a “dissertation” research contributing to the country’s development and new technologies.
