With an ever-accelerating pace of change in industry, rapid exapanding technology access, fast improving information and communication systems, globalisation of markets and business competition, resource limitations and rising customer expectations, engeneers have had to adop a new way of doing business. The pressing need for increased productivity as well as for the delivery od products of uniform high quality is turining industry more towards computer-based systems. As a synergy of core information and communication technologies is fast becoming an important component of modern products and processes that are highly integrated in functionalities. The new thinking framework in the process of designing computer and engeneering systems, database, programming, software, information security, information managment is bringing a paradgm shift in recognising the importance of the occupation and technology in enhancing productivity. The development of computer science and engeneering is therefore crucial to competitivness of Kosovo economy, public administration and personal services.
The sudy programme at UBT aims to offer a computer science and engeneering curricula to enable graduates to operate and work in different sectors. Computing is broad field that connects to and draws from many disciplines including mathematics, electrical engeneering, statistis, fine arts, linguistics and physical and life sciences. The study programme should enable graduates to develop the flexibility to work accross disciplines. Secondly, the study programme intends to prepare graduates that can work in a variety of professions. Thirdly, the study programme is designed to prepare graduates to suceed in a rapidly changing field. The field is changing and will continue to change rapidly and it is essential that the graduate is committed to life-long learning. Fourthly, the study programme provides the core fundamental theoritical education but it also intends to develop a process-oriented spirit and encourage students to link their theoritical understanding with concre real life practical applications in the industry. Finally, the study programme is designed while incorporating some of the fundamental knowledge areas based on best international practices and the programme intends to reinforce students’ committment to access knowledge and practice in international educational institutions and industry. Expected learning outcomes
Upon completion of the programs, the graduates will be able to:
Knowledge
Acquire in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles and technical knowledge of computer science and engineering, and apply them to solve real-world issues.
Understand the common themes of computer science and engineering, with the ability to connect theoretical concepts to practical applications.
Recognize the ethical, legal, and societal implications of computing and engineering, applying responsible practices in all technical solutions.
Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning by continuously updating knowledge in programming languages, systems understanding, and emerging technologies.
Skills
Design and improve computing systems through the use of quantitative and qualitative methods to evaluate functionality, usability, and performance.
Effectively communicate computing solutions, including explaining why and how the solution addresses the problem, and articulating assumptions made.
Apply information technology to simulate systems, analyze data, and develop solutions for technical and management challenges, ensuring accuracy and practicality.
Competencies
Utilize time and resource management techniques to meet project milestones and deliver high-quality solutions within set deadlines.
Collaborate effectively in teams, managing tasks and priorities, while ensuring coherent integration of computing knowledge with other fields.
Apply ethical reasoning and social responsibility when designing and implementing technology solutions, ensuring alignment with societal needs and legal frameworks.
