The program aims to enable students to expand their knowledge and understand practical developments and political theories of security, to analyze the phenomena of political developments of practical security and theoretical concepts and their interconnection. This program provides students with the ability to write strategies/documents of the nature of national security/civil emergencies and Cyber Security. Students have the opportunity to harmonize its basic requirements with their own study interests through this program by following a wide number of electoral subjects. This also allows a certain degree of appropriateness of this program. Academic teaching is developed based on the curricula of the courses of the well-known European and US security studies faculties as well as in contemporary literature. Building on the needs of the Kosovo market, this program offers a balanced approach between these needs and the creation of relevant students’ skills for their future study or policy-making careers.

 

After completing this program successfully, students will be able to:

Knowledge

  • Possess extensive theoretical knowledge of contemporary security policies, security institutions, actors, risks, and threats, with a deep understanding of both national and international contexts.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in interdisciplinary fields related to security, such as Law, Psychology, Geopolitics, State Institutions, International Relations, Cyber Security, and Research Methodology.
  • Critically analyze and evaluate political and security phenomena, linking them to the unique circumstances of Kosovo, the region, and international developments.
  • Show advanced understanding of the practical implications of security policies, displaying a strong interest in both national and international security issues.

Skills

  • Develop and apply analytical skills to manage and respond to various security situations, providing solutions at the national or sectoral level.
  • Exhibit the ability to draft well-researched political documents relevant to Kosovo and the region, contributing to policy-making and political strategies.
  • Communicate security policy issues clearly through writing and speech, utilizing analytical thinking to solve complex political problems.

Competencies

  • Demonstrate the ability to think critically and reason analytically about the main developments in national and international politics, fostering solutions to security challenges.
  • Apply interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in practical security contexts, such as national security management, geopolitical analysis, and cyber security, while integrating ethical considerations.
  • Engage in continuous learning and research, developing scientific and critical reasoning in the field of security, aligned with Kosovo’s political and regional needs, while contributing to UBT’s mission of preparing leaders with a global outlook and the skills for advancing security and policy fields.
