Since its inception, the Obstetrics and Gynecology program at Universidad de La Sabana has been developed comprehensively across all areas of obstetrics and gynecology, including breast disease (mastology), cervical pathology, minimally invasive surgery, and maternal-fetal medicine. In recent years, the program has placed special emphasis on strengthening its graduates’ surgical skills in minimally invasive procedures.
Likewise, the program contributes to addressing specific public health needs in Colombian society by training professionals with expertise in cervical pathology, supporting the early detection of cervical cancer, which is the second most common cancer among women of reproductive age.
In addition, specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology meet the prerequisite required in Colombia to pursue a second specialty, such as mastology, thereby contributing to the early detection and comprehensive treatment of breast cancer, which is currently the most common neoplasm among women.
