The Master’s Degree in Public Health offers a global perspective through an approach to the foundations of the Essential Public Health Functions (EPHF), enabling students to identify areas for further specialization through the rest of the academic offerings. It is a setting for interprofessional education that brings together participants from different disciplines. Within this program, the health–disease model is addressed as a collective construct, an exercise that requires the qualified participation of diverse professions and cultural backgrounds.

This master’s program is supported by the ‘health pentagram’ framework, through which population health is managed based on academic programs guided by a strong sense of social responsibility and accountability to society. From this perspective, the key stakeholders include: (1) health professional educators, (2) communities, (3) health administrators, (4) decision-makers, and (5) service providers.

The core of the training process includes the development of professional public health skills through active methodologies in which assessment guides learning.

Through community-based research, the program promotes dialogue among different forms of knowledge and expertise, contributing to the cultural adaptations needed to support population health.
