Bioproduction engineers stand out for their specialized knowledge in the design and management of processes that use biological materials to generate added value. This enables them not only to innovate in product development, but also to improve process efficiency and sustainability. They also have the skills to actively engage in entrepreneurship and business development, excelling in areas such as production, quality assurance, development and innovation, research, consulting, and industrial advisory services. Their professional scope includes a wide range of sectors, such as agroindustry (both food and non-food), biofuels, floriculture, plastics, sales, among others.
The program, originally created as Agroindustrial Production Engineering, was the first program offered by the Faculty. In 2022, the program changed its name to Bioproduction Engineering. This update included reducing the program duration from 10 to 9 semesters and decreasing the number of credits from 177 to 161. In addition, three areas of emphasis were created: Food, Bioprocesses, and Entrepreneurship. The main purpose of these emphases is to allow students to deepen their knowledge in topics demanded by industry and society, serving as a distinctive element that responds to the global environment and current professional trends.
