The course, delivered entirely in English, is developed over six years by training doctors with integrated skills in the clinical, biomedical, IT and statistical fields. It develops the conscious use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in medical practice and research. It promotes transdisciplinary education, with strong international openness and interaction with biotechnological research, offering internships and research opportunities. The course offers the possibility of obtaining a second degree, preparing students to work in multidisciplinary contexts. It qualifies for the profession of doctor-surgeon and access to specializations, doctorates and masters at an international level, keeping personal care central. Once the degree has been obtained, it will be possible to work within public or private structures, even as a freelancer, both independently and in a team, in Italy and abroad.
Characteristics and purposes
The
single-cycle Second-cycle/Master's degree course in Medicine and
Surgery – MedTech, belonging to the LM-41 ministerial field of study
code and delivered in English, trains doctors with integrated skills in
the biomedical, clinical, bioengineering, bioinformatics/statistics
fields.
The pathway, in line with the international standards of the
World Federation of Medical Education, develops the ability to use and
understand digital technologies, artificial intelligence and
bioengineering in medical practice and clinical research.
Organized
over six years for 360 university credits (ECTS credits), of which at
least 60 are dedicated to traineeship, the course promotes
transdisciplinary training, interaction with biotechnological and
bioengineering research and a strong international openness.
A
distinctive element is the possibility for students to obtain additional
credits to obtain recognition, in addition to the degree in Medicine
and Surgery – MedTech, also of an additional degree in Biomedical
Engineering (L-8/L-9) or in Biology of Human and Environmental Health
(L-13).
Employment opportunities
The course qualifies for the profession of physician-surgeon and allows access to specialization schools, research doctorates and university masters. Graduates will be able to work in public and private health facilities, research centers, universities, health organizations and companies in the biomedical and health sector, in national and international contexts. The skills gained will make it possible to combine the clinical approach with the ability to interpret and apply technological and digital innovations in medicine, keeping the person and patient care central.

Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the degree programme, candidates must:
- hold an upper secondary school certificate, or a qualification obtained abroad and suitable for admission to higher education.
- pass the admission test for the degree programme.
