Waterloo's Anthropology scholars and students critically engage with the diversity of human experience and adaptation around the world in both historical and contemporary contexts. Our MA program trains students to identify the relevance of anthropological findings and approaches to topics within public discourse. Our graduate students have written theses on diverse topics such as Arctic archaeology and climate change, drag queens and sexism, indigenous decolonization, and economic innovations in remote communities. The breadth built into Waterloo's Public Issues Anthropology program is excellent preparation for students who plan on a career in Anthropology as well as in a wide range of fields.

Minimum requirements: (1) An Honours Bachelor's degree with at least a 75% overall standing with 78% in the major. The expectation is that the undergraduate degree will be in Anthropology, but students with at least 5 courses in Anthropology may be admitted as long as these were part of a major in another social science or humanities program. The program will also accept students with a background in the natural sciences, as long as the 5 Anthropology courses they have taken include content in both ethnography and anthropological theory; (2) Students must demonstrate to the Advisory Committee competence in theory and methods adequate for study at the graduate level, e.g., through completing undergraduate courses which include these topics. // Application materials: (1) Supplementary information form; (2) Transcript(s): from all other post-secondary institutions. // For further information on admission requirements please check with the University for entry.
