At the graduate level, students have the choice of several core areas of specialization, and the opportunity to study emerging disciplines such as sustainable energy, nanotechnology, and biomedical engineering. Working closely with faculty supervisors, our 700 graduate students contribute to research in: Antennas, microwaves, and wave optics, Biomedical engineering, Circuits and systems (including computer-aided design), Communications and information systems, Computer hardware, Computer software, Nanotechnology, Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (PAMI), Power and energy systems, Quantum information, Silicon devices and integrated circuits, Systems and controls, Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI), AND Wireless communications.

Minimum requirements: (1) The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering requires either (i) a 75% overall standing in the last two years, or equivalent, in a relevant four-year Honours Bachelor's degree or equivalent or (ii) a 75% overall standing or equivalent, in a relevant four-year Honours Bachelor's degree or equivalent, as the minimum requirement for admission to a Master's program for applicants educated at a Canadian institution. A 75% overall standing or equivalent, in a relevant four-year Honours Bachelor's degree or equivalent is the minimum requirement for admission to a Master's program for applicants educated outside of Canada; (2) At the time of admission, each student must have a faculty supervisor who has endorsed the recommendation for admission. // Application materials: (1) Résumé; (2) Supplementary information form; (3) Transcript(s) // For further information on admission requirements please check with the University for entry.
