BA (Hons) Education Studies with Integrated Foundation Year will give students a detailed understanding of the principles of education, and its systems and structures. Students will critically explore all phases of education, from a range of historical, philosophical, sociological and psychological perspectives. For those who want to continue training and become a teacher, when they graduate from this course they will be guaranteed an interview for a University of Sunderland PGCE degree. The curriculum offers a good mix of theoretical and practical study of the discipline of education, exploring various perspectives. Year 3 offers increased student-led assessment with one’s choice of placement, curriculum design project and individual research plan.

1. Normally a minimum of three Level 2 qualifications (NVQ, GCSE or equivalent), including Maths and English at grade C or above** and a minimum of 40 UCAS tariff points from Level 3 qualifications (e.g. A or AS Levels, BTEC certificates/diplomas, access courses or equivalent)

2. Demonstrable evidence of appropriate knowledge and skills acquired from at least three years of post-school work experience.
