The Counselling (Top-Up) BA (Hons) is designed for Foundation Degree graduates or equivalent who wish to top-up their current qualifications to a full Bachelor of Arts with Honours degree. Counselling is increasingly becoming professionalised and practitioners are expected to evaluate the effectiveness of their own practice, apply research findings and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their field. Teaching on this course is concentrated into one full day a week. Teaching methods include a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops. Group work, discussion and presentations are just some of the approaches used in teaching sessions. Assessment methods includes literature-based dissertation, a variety of essays and a research activity.
