The Economics Masters Study Program was established against the background of the issuance of a permit from the Director General of Higher Education regarding the opening of the Doctoral Program (S3) in Economics in 2000 and the Development Economics Study Program (S1) has been running since 1985. With this condition, it is deemed necessary to open a Masters Study Program Economics (S2) to meet the needs at the second strata level. The Assembly Meeting of the Department of Development Economics mandated the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Tiktik Sartika Partomo, MS to form a Study Team for the Establishment of the Master of Economics Study Program. The study team on the feasibility study underwent several changes including the team of Lukman Hakim, SE, M. Si., then the team of Drs. Pulo Siahaan, MSc.
