Our Law MA is designed to help you develop an in-depth knowledge of the English legal system if you’re a graduate who doesn’t have a law degree.
If you graduated from a different subject other than law or you have a law degree from a non common law jurisdiction, this masters is for you. In our MA Law, you’ll:
- Build the core foundations of law in a master’s degree covering the seven foundations of legal knowledge required by the Bar Standards Board.
- Develop expertise for legal careers and beyond, building relevant skills for roles in the legal field or professional pathways beyond traditional legal routes.
- Gain more in-depth knowledge of the law over core legal subjects while tailoring your course to your interests through a range of optional modules.
You’ll study at a degree designed to give you critical knowledge of the English legal system, at one of the UK’s top universities for graduate prospects in Law (The Times UK University Rankings 2026).
Throughout the course, you’ll learn to identify and address the complex legal, moral, ethical and social questions that shape the law.
From criminal law to contract, property and tort law, you’ll learn the seven foundations of legal knowledge required by the Bar Standards Board, as well as skills associated with graduate legal work, such as legal research.
This in-depth understanding of core legal subjects will equip you with relevant knowledge and skills for careers such as barrister, solicitor, paralegal, as well as regulatory roles, in-house legal/compliance, public law practice, healthcare governance, charity and social policy work.
