Programme overview
Main Subject
Computer Science and Information Systems
Degree
BEng
Study Level
Undergraduate
Study Mode
On Campus
Study mathematics, control, embedded systems and programming, then advance to system design, security and intelligent systems. Learn to design optimised hardware/software for computing, sensing, IoT, AI, telecoms and autonomous systems, with applied projects building career-ready skills.
Engineering intelligent systems from silicon to software.
Modern technologies are built on microelectronic systems that integrate hardware, firmware, and software into complete, working architectures.
This BEng course is systems-led from the outset. You will develop strong foundations in integrated microelectronics, embedded systems, digital design, computer architecture, and software engineering – learning to engineer computing as part of physical electronic systems, not in isolation.
You will design FPGA-based platforms, implement embedded systems, develop low-level firmware, and integrate AI into real hardware. Throughout the programme, performance, efficiency, reliability, and security are considered at system level – across silicon, firmware, and application software.
Graduates emerge able to design and implement intelligent embedded systems that combine architectural understanding with practical engineering capability.
Accreditation
This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institute of Measurement and Control and the Engineering Council UK.
