This program is designed to expose the undergraduate student to the many issues that face today’s commercial music writers and producers. It is a structured course of study that provides the student with the special technical and practical skills required in today’s recording industry - an industry based on sophisticated recording equipment, interdisciplinary complexities of multimedia projects, economic considerations of production, ever-growing consumer needs, and broadening musical styles that continues to place added demands on the commercial music composer/arranger/producer. Career-oriented arranging and production projects utilize both video and MIDI/audio equipment, and incorporate symphonic and other live instrumental ensembles throughout the curriculum to furnish the student with real-world practical experience in a variety of professional situations.
