This course will develop students’ understanding of key concepts, enhance their technical abilities and help them appreciate the crucial role accounting and finance plays in organisations, by determining strategy and impacting decision making. Several modules on this course are accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Through this programme students will learn advanced-level theory and concepts used in accounting and finance. Students will develop their technical skills in these areas but also focus on providing them with an in-depth knowledge of accounting and its place in today’s global corporate environment. On this programme, students will explore how accounting and finance determines and impacts an organisations’ strategic policy and decision making. This will give them an understanding of the key principles and challenges of financial management decisions. Students will gain an insight into the application of accounting and finance within international organisations. The programme will examine case studies to illustrate how firms are using certain tools and techniques in practise, allowing students to apply their learning to real-life business scenarios and gain a critical perspective on the wider economic environment. Students will also gain a broad understanding of international business. Students will learn about the different perspectives on international business, look at key theories on international trade and foreign direct investment. Students will also examine how firms are structured and operate across borders. This will equip students with knowledge which is extremely beneficial when looking to pursue management roles with international companies.
