The Department of History is a prestigious academic extension of the Ambedkar School of Social
Science, BBAU, Lucknow. The department was established with the aim to examine, contemplate,
investigate, and disseminate the rich pre, proto, and historical traditions of India and the world. In
view of these ideals, the department offers M.A., and Ph.D. programmes to the students. The
Master’s course set the foundation for learning historical traditions and the Ph.D. makes the
students specialized in their area of interest and engage in producing the best research in their field.
The Department is envisioned of creating global academicians and researchers. In view of that,
the department facilitates the students advanced infrastructural facilities like a computer
laboratory, and library with a huge collection of national and international books, journals, and
online sources. Further, the department has eminent and skilled faculty members to train and guide
the students to attain their intended employment. To encompass the vast area of knowledge, the
curriculum is designed comprehensively covering all dimensions of historical traditions. With
teachings and research, the students are also encouraged to take part in seminars, conferences, and
debates. Eminent professors from other National & International level institutes such as Central
Universities, IIMs, and IITs are invited to interact with students on a regular basis.
