Established in 1997 as Centre of Vocational Studies (CVS) offering Post Graduate Programme in Computer Software Applications (PGDCSA) and started functioning as Department of Computer Science in 2001 with main objective to provide up-to-date knowledge of the core field of Computer Science to the students through effective teaching programs thereby enabling students to enhance their knowledge and get employed in leading corporate and IT sectors to serve the country to bridge the digital divide.
Objectives of the department
Provide up to date technical education based on the latest technology and project training to all students of the Department
Develop knowledge and skills of the students through teaching, interactive learning and research in varying disciplines of Computer Science
Interaction with experts from reputed institutions and industry for knowledge upgradation of students and faculty
To encourage research students to explore all key and frontier areas of Computer Science
Work to inculcate high moral and ethical values amongst the students to make them responsible citizens and good human beings
To help university achieve the goal of total computerization, networking with campus Wi-Fi and automation
Presently the department is offering three full time programs i.e. Master of Computer Applications, M. Tech. (Computer Science) and Ph.D. programme in Computer Science. A number of academic and cultural activities are regularly conducted in the department which includes workshops, Seminars and presentations, Invited talks, debate and discussions etc. to familiarize students with latest developments to improve their skills. The faculty members are engaged in various research and development related activities of the department and university apart from teaching and guiding students. Three UGC funded research projects have been completed in the department and another few have been submitted to various govt. funding agencies for approval.
Department has also organised Alumni meet in 2020. Two workshops of one week each have been organised by dept in 2017 and 2019 funded by university and AICTE (ATAL) respectively.
