The Department of Rural Management under School for Management Studies (SMS) was established in the year 2010. The main objective of the School is to produce socially, culturally and economically sensitive leaders in the field of Management and particularly in the world of Rural Management. India still being the largest agriculture based economy needs high skilled manpower to cater to the needs of farmers, agro based industries, NGOs, and other rural financial sectors. Contemporary Doctoral, Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses pertaining to Business administration are run in this department. The various courses offered in the department are Ph.D., MBA (Rural Management), MBA (HR/Finance/Marketing) under various disciplines and BBA. The thrust of the program is focused on quality teaching and research in management sphere. The objective of the department has always been to create a niche in management education. Identifying this importance the Department of Rural Management was upgraded to Department of Management Studies in the year 2022. The School is bestowed with rich legacy of successful 13 years.
The teaching pedagogy is at par with best practices comprising of Case studies, Presentations, Industry Interaction, Projects etc. enabled with Audio-visual and field-based studies. The department has well experienced faculty with expertise in different aspects of business studies. The department regularly conducts curricular and extracurricular activities. Management Quiz, Extempore, Management Skits, Management Games, Cultural and Sports events are conducted for multifaceted development of young managers being groomed in department.
Outcome of Department of Management Studies:
India is known as a country of villages; about 70 million people live in these villages. These people are aspiring to live healthy and economically active life. For this to happen there is need to break the Rural and Urban boundary and achieve inclusive and sustainable development. To achieve this we need to leverage the rural resources and create income generating opportunities in rural regions. Department of Rural Management (DRM) is working in direction the direction of making rural India vibrant in terms of economic capabilities and inclusive development. We at DRM believe that proper use of rural resources, bridging gap in marketing and distribution of rural produce, financial Inclusion, efficient governance are some core issues if addressed aptly, Rural India will certainly become prosperous and India for sure become the world largest economy. With this conviction DRM faculties and staff are relentlessly working to achieve following major outcomes:- 1. Study and redesign the Management principles in rural perspective. 2. Train manpower that can understand and address specific managerial needs of rural business and entrepreneurship. 3. Conduct Research to provide policy inputs in context of rural development. 4. Training and Consultancy in the field of Manpower planning, worker and labour psychology, financial inclusion, livelihood, Agriculture Supply Chain Management, management of Microfinance Institutions etc.
