The changing corporate job market scenario clearly reflects the huge demand for Economists
with multidisciplinary expertise to handle complex datasets, communicate effectively, and fully
understand the market oriented techniques, pitfalls, and potential of advanced decision making
methods. This program will prepare the students for the array of numerate and analytical
professions that are found at the core of both modern research and the digital economy. Keeping
this in mind, Department of Economics, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow is
offering a two years M.Sc. Economics Program. The program inculcates the skill of dealing with
emerging issues and encourages students to think out-of-the-box solutions with practical
exercise. The curriculum has firm foundations in core economic theory to interface technology.
The Students choose fields of specialization in core economics and emerging fields in the inter
section of economics with other sciences and technology and Social Sciences.
MSc Economics program is completely different from conventional M.A. Economics.
This program is relatively more market oriented offering applied papers such as Principles of
Optimization Theory, Large-scale data analysis with statistical software, Mathematical
Economics, Statistical Methods, Advanced Econometrics, and Machine Learning with Artificial
Intelligence. Apart from the core papers, the program also offers diversified papers covering core
sectors such as Indian Economy, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Economics, Labor
Economics, Environmental Economics, and Information technology.
On completion of the program, students will have a deep understanding of the techniques and
methods of modern mathematical sciences, and a clear insight into the industrial and scientific areas.
Program offers transferable skills including an analytical approach to problem solving, logical
argument and deductive reasoning to make the students well equipped to work on complex policy
matters.
