The complexity of construction projects requires professionals who have expertise in construction management and can work effectively with people from different backgrounds and construction disciplines. Our Construction Management degree has been developed to meet the needs of the industry, preparing you to manage a construction project from inception through to occupation. You will develop management skills to enable you to deliver projects safely, on time, on budget and of the highest possible quality. You will learn about the immediate and long-lasting effect which construction activities have on the environment, and discover sustainable and environmentally sound construction methods and innovative management practices. You will learn through creative problem solving, working with our industrial partners to develop your intellectual and practical competence, as required by professional bodies including CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) and RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors). Our strong links with employers such as Willmott Dixon allow you to apply your learning in a practical context. You’ll also have the chance to work on live projects for clients. It’s an exciting time to study in Birmingham – the city is undergoing huge regeneration. This means that there are many opportunities, now and in the future, for those with built environment qualifications. Our Built Environment courses are placed 11th out of 59 institutions in the Guardian University League Tables 2018. In 2017, we are spending £8.7 million on improvements to our Millennium Point facilities so you’ll have even more access to dedicated, industry-standard equipment.
