PhD-Mathematics

Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (Deemed University) offers programs leading to the award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The award of PhD degree is in recognition of high academic achievements, independent research and application of knowledge to the solution of technical and scientific problems in science, technology, humanities & social sciences and management; creative and productive inquiry is the basic requirement underlying the research work. The academic program leading to the PhD degree is broad-based and involves course credit requirements. The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) of the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (Deemed to be University) shall be conferred on a candidate who fulfils all the requirements specified in these Ordinances and Regulations.

The Department of Mathematics has a strong and dedicated team of faculty members having expertise in various areas of pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and operations research. The research interests of the faculty members of the department are available at JIIT website. The faculty members are actively engaged in research and development and contributing significantly in terms of sponsored projects funded by various agencies, research publication and participation in conferences, workshops and seminars etc.

The key research areas of Ph.D. program in Mathematics are: Differential Equations (Numerical methods, Computational continuum mechanics, Vibration analysis, Mathematical modelling etc.), Fuzzy set theory, Soft computing and applications, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Mathematical analysis (Functional Analysis, Fixed point theory, Fractals, Frames, Special functions, Fractional calculus, etc.), Optimization Techniques, Operations Research (Queuing theory, Reliability, etc.) Probability, Statistics and Information theory.

The Department has produced about 40 doctorate theses. Currently, 37 students are pursuing Ph. D. program in the Mathematics Department.

JIIT supports deserving full time scholars of the Ph.D. program in Mathematics financially and provides them fellowship in the form of Research/Teaching Assistantship for a selected period of time.

Students are trained to get publish their research work in the reputed international journals such as Multimedia Tools and Applications, Soft Computing, International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management, Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, Journal of Vibration Engineering & Technologies etc. These publications help in making the recognition of the students as a professional researcher at international level. Also, opportunities are provided for attending the workshop, conferences, seminar etc. where students can present their research outcomes and build professional network.
