Overview: MTech. in Computer Science and Engineering (MTech-CSE) is a 4-semester (2 years) postgraduate program offered by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology at Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), Noida. This program aims to equip students with the analytical, design, and developmental skills essential for computer systems and their applications. The programme provides advanced level education and research exposure across various computing domains such as Data Structures and Algorithms for Big Data, Machine Learning and Data Mining, Internet of Things, Cloud Technology, and other emerging technologies. With a strong emphasis on innovation, research, and industry relevance, JIIT Noida's MTech-CSE program prepares students for both academia and industry careers. The program benefits from a well-structured and regularly updated curriculum, experienced faculty, state-of-the-art labs with high-performance computing systems, networking tools, and the latest software frameworks. Curriculum & Learning Approach: The MTech-CSE program at JIIT Noida is designed as a 68-credit program (spread over 4 semesters), ensuring a balanced education in theory and practice. The curriculum includes:

·     Core subjects covering fundamental and advanced computing concepts such as Data Structures and Algorithms for Big Data, Machine Learning and Data Mining, Cloud and Web Services Software Engineering, Performance Evaluation of Computing Systems, etc.

·     Elective courses allowing specialization in cutting-edge technologies like Advanced programming with python and R, Object oriented programming using JAVA, Software Quality and Testing, Computer Vision, Cryptography and Cybersecurity, Essential Statistics for Data Science, Web Intelligence, Digital Forensics and Fraud Analytics, and Text Analytics, etc.

·     Laboratory work with access to modern computing resources and real-world simulation environments. These laboratory work needs to be carried out by the students in laboratory courses such as, Advanced Algorithms Lab, Machine Learning and Data Mining Lab, Cloud Technology Lab, Cloud and Web Services Lab, Performance Engineering Lab, and IOT Systems Development Lab, etc.

·     Project-based learning to bridge the gap between academics and industry requirements.

The MTech-CSE is framed in such a way that student can design their degree according to their interests and career aspirations. In the beginning of the second semester, student has freedom to select any one of the following specialized areas:

·     MTech-CSE (if they do not wish to opt for any particular specialization)

·     MTech-CSE with specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI&ML)

·     MTech-CSE with specialization in Data Analytics (DA)

·     MTech-CSE with specialization in Cyber Security (CYS)

·     MTech-CSE with specialization in Internet of Things (IoT)

·     MTech-CSE with specialization in Information Technology and Entrepreneurship (ITE)

The academic framework is enhanced with interdisciplinary learning, providing students with flexibility to explore interests beyond traditional computing disciplines. Students are encouraged to engage in research, working closely with faculty in research centers focused on AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, and robotics, contributing to innovative solutions, patents, and academic publications. The regular guest lectures, hands-on workshops, and industry projects exposes students to real-world applications. Also, students are encouraged to engage in cutting-edge research in collaboration with faculty at research centers dedicated to fields like AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics, where they contribute to innovative solutions and publications.

Entrepreneurial Opportunities: The institute encourages students to develop innovative products and solutions, often supported by funding and mentorship programs. JIIT Noida fosters an entrepreneurial mindset to the students of MTech-CSE program by providing access to incubation centers, mentorship programs, industrial internship and IT entrepreneurship project. This proactive approach has resulted in some successful startups founded by MTech-CSE alumni. Some of the successful startups in recent years are as follows: Har Ghar Puja, etc.

Higher Studies and Competitive Examinations: Upon completion of the M. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, graduates are poised for diverse career opportunities spanning software development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer networking. Furthermore, they have the option to pursue doctoral studies in computer science or related fields, fostering continued academic and research contributions in the realm of technology and innovation.

Placement, Internship, and Teaching Assistantship (TA): The placement record at JIIT Noida for the MTech-CSE program is good, with several companies visiting the campus and actively recruiting the graduates. The dedicated placement cell at JIIT Noida ensures that students of MTech-CSE program receive ample opportunities through pre-placement training and mock interviews. In addition, students do their dissertation/thesis as part of the industrial internship. Also, selected students get the opportunity to avail the TA of Rs. 15000/- per month. CGPA (greater than equal to 7.5) and students with valid GATE score are some of the criteria for availing the TA.

Extra-Curricular Activities: Beyond academics, students of MTech-CSE program are encouraged to showcase their skills and participate in technical events like, coding competitions, coding workshops, Hackathon, etc. often organised by the technical clubs of CS&E and IT Dept. of JIIT Noida, like, JIIT Programming Hub, Game Development Hub, AI&ML Hub, Microcontroller Based Systems and Robotics Hub, etc. The engagements in these extra-curricular activities resulted into winning/good ranks at various platforms of national and international repute. Also, various non-technical clubs at JIIT Noida like Crescendo – The Music Club, Jhankaar – The Dance Club, Parola – The Literary Society provide platforms to student to participate and showcase their talent in sports and non-technical events
