Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is a premier public engineering and technological Institute in Bangladesh, established on 19 April 1998 under the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The institute was founded with the strategic vision of becoming a centre of excellence in science, engineering, technology, and research, addressing both national development priorities and global challenges. Academic activities commenced in 1999 for military officers, and civilian student admissions began in 2003. Today, over 85% of MIST’s students are civilians, reflecting its broad academic and societal reach and its commitment to inclusive, high-quality education.

MIST offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs across engineering, applied sciences, architecture, and planning disciplines. Its academic structure is organized into specialized faculties and departments, enabling both disciplinary depth and interdisciplinary collaboration. The institute implements Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles, ensuring that students acquire measurable skills and competencies aligned with international standards. SSC/Equivalent: Applicants must have passed in 2022 or 2023 with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (excluding the fourth subject). HSC/Equivalent: Applicants must have passed in 2024 or 2025 with a minimum total grade point of 18 across four core subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. Subject Minimums: A minimum grade point of 4.0 is strictly required in each of the three core science subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. GCE (O and A Level) Standards: * O Level: Minimum 'B' grade in at least five subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English. A Level: Minimum of three 'B' grades in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Shortlisting Prerequisite: Only a limited number of applicants from two separate shortlists (current year and last year) will be selected to sit for the written admission test. Merit List Weighting: Admission is not based solely on the test; the final merit list is a composite score of the Written Test ( 60% ), HSC results ( 20% ), and SSC results ( 20% ). Penalty for Second-Time Applicants: Candidates who passed their HSC in 2024 will face a 5% mark deduction from their written test score during merit list preparation. Disqualification Clause: Any incomplete or false information provided at any stage will result in immediate disqualification .
