Selecting the right scholarship can be a daunting process. With countless options available, students often find themselves overwhelmed and confused. The decision can be especially stressful for those facing financial constraints or pursuing specific academic or career goals.
To help students navigate this challenging process, we recommend the following articles:
The Cyber Range Lab at MIST is a specialized, high-fidelity environment used for simulated cyber warfare and defense training. For a PhD scholar, this facility allows for the deployment of large-scale "Live-Fire" exercises to test novel intrusion detection algorithms, blockchain-based security protocols, or zero-trust architectures against real-world malware in a sandboxed, multi-vector attack environment.
Beyond standard workstations, the lab provides access to Intelligent Computing clusters and IoT Interfacing hardware. This allows PhD researchers to conduct experiments in Edge Computing and Distributed Systems, focusing on optimizing latency and power consumption for large-scale sensor networks or smart-city infrastructures (like the Jolshiri Abashon smart-city projects).
Before advancing to full-time research, a PhD student must pass a Comprehensive Examination. This is a critical technical milestone that tests the candidate’s mastery of advanced CSE topics (e.g., Advanced Algorithms, Theory of Computation, and their specific research domain). Passing this exam confirms the candidate's "Depth of Knowledge" and officially transitions them from a student to a PhD Candidate ready for their final dissertation work.
At MIST, a PhD is not just about writing a dissertation; it is about proving global impact. Before the final defense, a doctoral candidate is typically required to publish at least two high-impact research articles. At least one of these must be in a peer-reviewed international journal (preferably Q1 or Q2 ranked) or a top-tier conference indexed by Scopus or Web of Science. Scholars are highly encouraged to submit to the MIST International Journal of Science and Technology (MIJST), which maintains a strict 20% similarity limit and adheres to international COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
For the April 2026 intake, MIST offers a highly competitive scholarship of 50,000 BDT per month for 36 months to potential full-time PhD candidates. Qualification is based on a rigorous assessment of your research proposal, your academic track record (minimum GPA 3.00/4.00 in both B.Sc. and M.Sc.), and the alignment of your research with the department’s strategic goals.
