The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Aeronautical Engineering at the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is a flagship undergraduate program established in 2009 to meet the growing national and global demand for high-caliber aerospace professionals. As a pioneer in Bangladesh, the program offers two distinct specializations: Aerospace, focusing on aircraft structures, aerodynamics, and propulsion; and Avionics, which concentrates on flight control systems, radar, and satellite communication. The curriculum is a rigorous four-year journey comprising approximately 160 credits, meticulously designed to align with international standards and outcome-based education (OBE). Students benefit from a disciplined academic environment on a secure cantonment campus, supported by world-class infrastructure including state-of-the-art laboratories like the Applied Aerodynamics Lab (housing wind tunnel facilities), the Jet Propulsion Lab, and the Radar Engineering Lab.
Under the mentorship of a distinguished faculty body—comprising both military and civilian experts with advanced degrees from globally renowned institutions—students engage in high-impact research and innovative projects, such as the development of surveillance UAVs and aircraft fuel sequencing systems. Beyond technical mastery, the program emphasizes leadership, ethics, and professional soft skills through industrial visits, seminars, and active participation in prestigious international competitions like the University Rover Challenge. Graduates are uniquely prepared for leadership roles in the Bangladesh Air Force, commercial airlines, civil aviation authorities, and global aerospace research organizations. Admission Requirements
SSC/Equivalent: Applicants must have passed in 2022 or 2023 with a minimum GPA of 4.00 (excluding the fourth subject) .
HSC/Equivalent: Applicants must have passed in 2024 or 2025 with a minimum total grade point of 18 across four core subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English .
Subject Minimums: A minimum grade point of 4.0 is strictly required in each of the three core science subjects: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry .
GCE (O and A Level) Standards: * O Level: Minimum 'B' grade in at least five subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English.
A Level: Minimum of three 'B' grades in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry .
Shortlisting Prerequisite: Only a limited number of applicants from two separate shortlists (current year and last year) will be selected to sit for the written admission test .
Merit List Weighting: Admission is not based solely on the test; the final merit list is a composite score of the Written Test ( 60% ), HSC results ( 20% ), and SSC results ( 20% ) .
Penalty for Second-Time Applicants: Candidates who passed their HSC in 2024 will face a 5% mark deduction from their written test score during merit list preparation .
Disqualification Clause: Any incomplete or false information provided at any stage will result in immediate disqualification .
