On the Fine Art MFA we'll support and encourage you to:

  • challenge your thinking and making through self-directed independent studio practice
  • develop your creative curiosity and intellectual rigour, gaining fresh perspectives through practice and debate
  • explore a range of approaches, preparing you for independent professional practice and academic, practice-led research
  • advance your theoretical and written skills, working as an independent visual art practitioner in regional, national and global contexts
  • interrogate your own work and that of other artists, gaining an advanced understanding of the relationship between practice and theory

If you've already completed an MA Fine Art either at Newcastle or elsewhere, you may be eligible to join our MFA Fine Art direct at Stage 2.
