This Master's programme focuses on the way society deals with its physical environment. We’ll look at the experiences that countries from all around the globe have had, and we will examine both the best and the worst practices. We’ll examine the role played by markets and governments as well as society itself. Within the Master's Environment and Society Studies, you have a choice between four Master's specialisations: 

Environment and Society Studies – Corporate Sustainability

In this Environment and Society Studies - Corporate Sustainability programme at Radboud University, students learn about the corporate level of sustainability transformations and corporate social responsibility. Particular attention is paid to innovation: not just technological innovation but also innovating manufactory processes and new business models.

Environment and Society Studies - Global Environment and Sustainability

The Environment and Society Studies - Global Environment and Sustainability programme at Radboud University focuses on the global level of sustainability transformations and international agreements and policies towards a sustainable future. Issues addressed are those related to climate change, biodiversity, water quality, the quality of ecosystems and supply of natural resources.

Environment and Society Studies - Local Environmental Change and Sustainable Cities

The Environment and Society Studies - Local Environmental Change and Sustainable Cities specialisation at Radboud University strongly focuses on the local level of sustainability transformations, in particular sustainable cities. The natural as well as social and political aspects of environmental issues will be addressed.

Applications for both Bachelor's and Master's programmes open up 1 October. The deadlines are as follows:


Admission requirements for Bachelor's programmes

High school diploma
Your diploma must be equivalent to a Dutch VWO diploma or a higher-level diploma. Additional requirements may apply, for example, a diploma from an academic stream, a specific level/course, or a certificate in Mathematics.

Command of the English language
When applying for admission to an English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Radboud University, you need to have sufficient command of the language. There are various ways to prove this, sometimes through your diploma or citizenship and in other cases through a language test certificate (TOEFL iBT, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)).
