English Language and Culture has two tracks: English Language and Culture and American Studies. This website will inform you about English Language and Culture. If you are interested in American Studies, please visit our website about this track. The track English Language and Culture allows you to study all aspects of the English language as it has evolved across the centuries. At the same time, you immerse yourself in the culture and literature of Great Britain. You study the classics of high and popular culture - Shakespeare, Stevenson, Downton Abbey, Little Britain, and much more. To become an expert in the field of English language, linguistics and culture, you will also have to immerse yourself in the culture, social relations, habits and eccentricities of the people for whom (British) English is their native language.

Tuition fees
Undergraduate tuition fees for 2020/2021 are €2,168 for EU/EEA-students. Non-EU/EEA students pay between €11,500 and €14,500.

Deadlines
Applications for both Bachelor's and Master's programmes open up 1 October. The deadlines are as follows:

  • non-EU/EEA students: 1 April (final deadline, incl. accommodation and visa assistance)
  • EU/EEA students: 1 May (deadline for accommodation assistance); 1 July (final deadline)
  • Exception: Bachelor's programmes with a Numerus Fixus (selection procedure): 15 January


Admission requirements for Bachelor's programmes

High school diploma
Your diploma must be equivalent to a Dutch VWO diploma or a higher-level diploma. Additional requirements may apply, for example, a diploma from an academic stream, a specific level/course, or a certificate in Mathematics.

Command of the English language
When applying for admission to an English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Radboud University, you need to have sufficient command of the language. There are various ways to prove this, sometimes through your diploma or citizenship and in other cases through a language test certificate (TOEFL iBT, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)).

Application procedure

To apply, fill in an online application form with an ID or passport, your high school diploma and a transcript of your grades.
