As one of the top comprehensive research universities in Asia and worldwide, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) offers over 50 undergraduate programmes spanning 10 faculties and 2 schools in various disciplines including Architecture, Arts, Business, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science, Social Sciences, Computing and Data Science, as well as Innovation and Technology, providing more than 100 majors and minors for students to pursue their aspirations.


Communication is not an issue as classes are mainly taught in English at HKU and the language is also widely spoken in Hong Kong. With a large student body representing over 90 nationalities, HKU is a truly international community where you can make lifelong friendships with a diverse group of peers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Once you have successfully submitted an application for admission, you will be considered for an entrance scholarship automatically. The result of both admission and entrance scholarship will be announced at the same time. No separate application for entrance scholarship is required. Selection is based on academic merits with consideration of non-academic achievements.

The University will also consider students for special scholarships which might require separate application. You are advised to refer to the details of all the scholarships on our Fees and Scholarships page.

After you are admitted to the University, you may apply for other HKU scholarships. You may be awarded a merit-based scholarship based on your work in the University.

Admissions decisions to the University's undergraduate degree programmes are made based on academic performance as well as other factors, including interview performance, personal statement, references, other documents submitted to the University, etc. Satisfying the minimum requirements does not guarantee admissions.  Please visit our  Admissions Standards  page for details.
