The degree of Master of Arts in the field of East Asian Studies (MAEAS) is a postgraduate degree offered by the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Hong Kong. A good Bachelor’s degree in Japanese, Korean, East Asian Studies or related disciplines, including, but not limited to Anthropology, Cultural Studies, History, Linguistics, Literature, Media Studies, Politics, and Sociology; and a high degree of language abilities already achieved in Japanese, Korean, or Russian.
For Japanese: level N2 in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)
For Korean: level 4 or 5 in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK)
For Russian: level II or III in the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL)
