Skills like researching, critical thinking, writing and learning how the past influences today and tomorrow are essential parts of our courses at UIndy. Ultimately, these skills prepare you for a number of careers, such as: Teaching: History education majors are prepared to teach in middle and high schools, as well as teach abroad. Research institutions: Because many of your courses will be research-driven, you will graduate well-prepared for any position requiring extensive research. Government work: Some government sectors and positions rely heavily on a historical context, the ability to research, and knowledge of the current political realm on a larger scale. A history degree will help you prepare for this type of work. Graduate school/law school: A degree in history can set you up for a variety of graduate programs, including law school.
