    The University of Sheffield offers undergraduate courses in a range of subject areas including arts and humanities, business, engineering, law, medicine, dentistry and health, science and social sciences. 

    Whatever subjects’ students choose to study at the university, they will be taught and supervised by world-leading teachers, researchers and practitioners. Academic staff at the university are experts in their fields, and in the latest Research Excellence Framework 99% percent of Sheffield’s research was rated as internationally recognised, excellent or world-leading.     During their time at Sheffield, students are encouraged to manage their own time to build upon vital organisational skills and prepare for the world of work. In addition to becoming specialists in their chosen subject, students will develop their problem-solving, research, analytical, team working, and leadership skills, as well as increasing their confidence, and becoming resilient and adaptable.


    We’re continually investing in our campus and facilities to ensure we provide a high quality learning environment with access to all of the resources and technology you need.  

    There are five libraries available to students, with the university's Information Commons and Diamond offering 24/7 study facilities.

    Our Information Commons library has 1,300 learning spaces, considerable technology support and over 100,000 books and 500 computers.

    The Diamond, a multidisciplinary teaching facility offers a range of independent and shared study spaces, computer and specialist engineering labs as well as an extensive library collection. It also features sector-leading creative media facilities including private editing booths and a full TV studio.

    Accommodation

    The University of Sheffield guarantees to find students a place in their accommodation for the duration of their studies, providing they meet a few simple conditions. All university accommodation includes a private bedroom and free Wi-Fi. The majority of rooms are en-suite so students will have their own bathroom and WC.

    Sports

    University sports are open to everyone. There are many sports and exercise opportunities for you to get involved in, regardless of your ability, commitment level or past experience.

    You can also join our fitness centre, Sport Sheffield to get access to a variety of fitness classes and sports facilities, including a high-tech gym, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and sports pitches.

    Faith support

    Our religious advisors and chaplains offer care and support to all students, whatever your beliefs and there are places of worship for those of all faiths.

    Sheffield is a vibrant and modern city in the heart of the UK. Home to more than half a million people, it has all the facilities you’d expect of a major UK city – restaurants and bars, cinemas, theatres and live music venues, museums and galleries, and independent and brand-name shops. The city also boasts lots of green space, including over 200 parks, gardens and woodland such as the Sheffield Botanical Gardens and Weston Park which are both a short walk from the main campus.     English language requirements

    The university accepts a range of different English language qualifications. The English Language Teaching Centre offers pre-sessional English language courses for those who need to improve their English levels to meet the entry requirements for their undergraduate degree.

    Undergraduate

    Sheffield accepts a range of different international qualifications for direct entry onto undergraduate courses. If students do not meet the requirements, they can apply for one of the university’s pathway programmes.

    To apply for an undergraduate course, students need to apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Sheffield’s UCAS code is S18 SHEFD. There is no campus code.

    The University of Sheffield is ranked number one in the north of England for graduate employability (The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020). You can access our Careers Service throughout your degree and for up to three years after you graduate. 

    Whatever your career ambitions, we offer opportunities for you to develop your personal and professional skills and experience alongside your degree. Our Careers Service runs large fairs on campus for employers who are actively looking to recruit our students. You can also meet employers when they deliver on-campus events or workshops.
