The BA in Sociology is designed to help students understand social behavior, human culture, and social institutions. The program prepares students to understand the relationship between events in their own lives and the society in which they live by employing theoretical, methodological, and statistical skills.

The BA in Sociology program prepares students to pursue careers directly after the BA or for postgraduate training. Students pursue postgraduate work in a variety of fields, including sociology, health, business, urban planning, and education. Those entering the job market after the BA are prepared to enter careers in a variety of private and public settings where knowledge of human relationships and/or social research skills is useful. Students have opportunities to learn both quantitative and qualitative research methods and how to apply those methods to understand the social world.
