Developed in response to the increasing demand for teachers and practitioners trained in best practices for the education and treatment of individuals with autism and related disabilities, the Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis at Western New England University will give working professionals the skills to fill this void. Through a combination of coursework and supervised practical experiences, students completing this program will earn a master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and meet the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) requirements for taking the exam to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts. One of the strengths of the program is our partnership with the prestigious New England Center for Children to offer this program to faculty and staff on their campus. The Center, located in Southborough, MA, is home to a school for over 500 children with autism and includes a faculty of over 1100 educators. The Center provides state-of-the-art education for children with autism, autism spectrum disorder, pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), and Asperger’s Syndrome. Through a combination of coursework and supervised practical and research experiences, the aim of the Master's degree program is to train scientist-practitioners in application of behavior analysis toward solving human behavior problems of societal importance (e.g., autism and related disabilities). Students will learn to apply empirically-supported assessment, teaching, and intervention strategies and to analyze the effects of their teaching and intervention programs.
